The traditional cuisine of Castagneto gives you the opportunity to try a wide
variety of local wine, dine in local restaurants, visit selected wine shops and
go on guided tours to wine cellars along the Wine Route (April-May)
S. VINCENZO:
Etruscan Coast Palio. On Easter and Easter Monday the very same horses and horse
riders that will compete for the famous Palio of Siena contend here, on the beach,
for a cloth painted by renowned artists.
LIVORNO:
The Naval Academy of Livorno promotes regattas with 600 sailing-boats, 2000 participants
and the best crews and skippers from all over the world. 75 regattas with 14 classes
in 9 different areas take part simultaneously. Numerous cultural, social and artistic
events (takes place in the third week of April)
The CEL (Summer Committee of Livorno) of the theatre of Livorno, a traditional
theatre since 1967, organises a program of theatrical performances rich in different
genres and themes throughout the year.
19th century Villa Mimbelli houses the famous Museo Civico Giovanni Fattori collection,
Fattori, Lega, Signorini and Nomellini just ot name a few (All year round)

CAMPIGLIA MARITTIMA:
"Calendimaggio". This mediaeval village celebrates May the whole month through
with a series of events which end in the Historical Day, traditionally held on
the first Sunday after May 15. The historical parade, musicians, sopranos, tenors,
games of strolling players, acrobats, competitions of archery and the Palio are
great entertainment (all of May, first Sunday after May 15th)

GUASTICCE - COLLESALVETTI:
Azienda Agricola Bellavista of Guasticce organises the Game Fair, competitions
and sports like archery, clay pigeon shooting, fishing and the chase. Maremman
horse show, dogs and falconry make for a special weekend in the Tuscan countryside.

(June/July) Every year boat rowing races take place between the local town quarters.
The Palio Marinaro is the most important event of all and was first held in 1400
in honour of Cosimo de' Medici (July)
The Barontini Cup (end of June) is a night time race that runs along the floodlit
Medicean canals.
The Risi'atori Cup, (end of June) a rowing boat competition held in the open
sea with historical origins in the Medici 17-century law which gave fast sailing-boats
the right to land.

Musica per le Stelle (July to September): Concerts of modern and classical music
by young talented artists are given in the very enchanting spots like medieval
villages, cloisters, small churches, squares, castles and villas.
CASTIGLIONCELLO:
The Etruscan Coast Literary Prize takes place on the first Saturday of September
at Castello Pasquini with the participation of representatives from the most popular
Italian publishing houses. Every year three different prizes are awarded.

(before Christmas) Over 150 living characters, centurions, roman knights, shepherds
and merchants, together with the main characters of the Nativity scene, reproduce
a new Bethlehem.
