The Sea
Marina di Castagneto Carducci is a seaside resort with a large sandy beach bordered
by pinewood planted at the beginning of the century to shelter the countryside
during the rare winter storms. The town developed around the eighteenth-century
fortress built by the government to improve the coastal defences and presently
the residence of the Count Della Gherardesca. Nowadays, Marina di Castagneto is
one of the most well-known and exclusive seaside resorts on the Etruscan Coast,
known for the quality of services offered and for the purity of the sea which
has been awarded the European “Blue Flag” for many years.
The Beach
Only a few steps from the building, the Resort's sandy beach extends for 200
meters. It is safeguarded by our beach staff and equipped with sun umbrellas,
chaises longues and sun beds. The Guests' privacy and relaxation under the sun
is guaranteed by the natural barrier of the tombolos, the sand dunes of this part
of the Tuscan coast. Beyond the beach, the sea is crystal clear and the seven
islands of the Tuscan archipelago - Gorgonia, Giannutri, Capraia, Pianosa, Montecristo,
Giglio and Elba, Napoleon'shome in exile - stand out like the seven pearls of
Venus's necklacelost while swimming in the Mediterranean Sea. On clear days Corsica
and Sardinia are visible in the distance. All the islands can be reached with
a local ferry boat service.
The Swimming pool
The outside swimming pool is a sea water lagoon surrounded by vegetation set
in a corner of the garden to guarantee the Guests' privacy. It is the ideal area
for a soothing break amid the pinewood, palm trees, cedars and junipers where
silence, shade and peace prevail. The soft trickling of its small waterfall lulls
and relaxes the senses. The pagoda bar, La Baia dei Pini, is available for refreshing
drinks and small brunches.
The terrazza mare
Originally the dining-hall of the old summer colony, the Terrace above the Lobby
reaches towards the sea – on windy days, it gives the impression of being on the
deck of a cruise ship. Fit with teak floors and wooden sofas and partly covered,
the Terrazza Mare and the Terrace Bar are ideal to enjoy a moment of relaxation
while sipping on a drink, admiring a beautiful sunset or simply breathing in the
fresh sea breeze while enjoying our light lunch buffet.
