The original structure of the Tombolo was built in the 1930s by Società Elettriche del Nord as a summer resort for their employees' children.
Its destination remained essentially unchanged until 1998, when the area was
acquired by the Tombolo Beach S.r.l., a company made up of real worshippers of
hospitality, eno-gastronomic tourism and, most of all, of Tuscany.
The initial recovery plan meant to turn the property into a luxury apartment
compound, but following accurate market surveys, the investors decided for a different
investment which would bring more tourism to the town of Castagneto Carducci and
to the entire region.

Restructuring began in October 2000 and two years later, the holiday camp had
become a Resort unparalleled in Italy for dimensions, plant engineering ,interior
design and for its exceptional Thalassotherapy Center.
The Resort was named after the “Tomboli”, thesand dunes covered with Mediterranean
vegetationtypical of thispart of the Tuscan coast.
